Schola Cantorum of Waynesboro

Singing Music of the Masters

schola

Schola Cantorum of Waynesboro is a choral group from the Shenandoah Valley area (primarily Augusta County, Staunton and Waynesboro) formed to present great works of the master composers to the community. The ensemble is comprised of approximately 50 volunteer musicians who represent some of the most talented singers from the area. We attempt to present the music as the composer designed it to be heard with orchestral accompaniment, where appropriate.

In addition to its presentation of music to the community, Schola Cantorum endeavors to support the musical education of young people. We have had joint concerts with the Waynesboro High School Concert Choir, allowing the young singers the experience of professional orchestral accompaniment. We also provide a scholarship for voice lessons to a graduating high school senior showing vocal promise and intending to pursue music in college. Joining with the Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra, Schola supports other artistic efforts in the community.
